CHILDREN’S AUTISM BOOK IN 5TH PRINTING

Do-si-Do with Autism, a children’s book about autism by Sarah Stup, a writer with autism, has just gone into its 5th printing.

The book, which stars Taylor the Turtle with autism, has drawn high praise from parents, educators and community leaders, who find it an entertaining way to introduce children to autism, a developmental disability that affects one out of every 150 births.

Dozens of readers have written Stup to thank her for helping them better understand their loved ones with autism. Her book, they say, reminds them to appreciate the “person within,” even though that person may not be able to communicate as others do.

“Packing a fun story with the message that differences should not be feared is what I hoped to do,” says Stup. “Taylor the Turtle can march out to let kids discover his shell is not empty.”

Stup is now at work on the Taylor the Turtle Fun Pack DVD based on Do-si-Do with Autism. Designed for parents, educators and students, it will include Taylor games, lesson plans and disability awareness activities.
